Nothing is more frustrating than trying to maneuver within your own home with a walker or wheelchair. Doorways and bathrooms were not built to allow for free passage. Allison Ong Shreffler, Architect teamed up with Stoneybrooke Home Renovations & Design to provide this new addition to address ADA accessibility for a retired veteran and his wife.
The bedroom is surrounded by windows, allowing for a bright and sunlit room with views to the backyard. The bathroom was specifically designed to include a zero threshold, roll-in shower, a hydrotherapy tub, and an ample turnaround space with grab bars for easy access to the toilet.
Zero threshold shower, hydrotherapy bathtub, and ample turnaround space for toilet are key ADA compliant features for this veteran.
While practicality was the key to the success of this project, style and grace were not compromised for this well deserving couple.
